April 2008
Date Added: 29/04/2008
Crazy time in Sydney town!!!!
April has been a month of madness in Sydney, with more celebs coming into town than you could stuff into a Qantas first class lounge!
Robert Downey Jr. kicked off the celebrity onslaught with the premier of his new film Iron Man, a kick ass action flick based on the cult comic classic. Over the years I have had the pleasure to get up close to some of my idols, and when I was in the Gold Class lounge during the “Who Magazine” pre movie drinks, my knees started to shake when I saw RDJ... I had no idea he was so cute and little in real life! After recently celebrating his 40-something birthday, he still looked 12 in his suit and sneakers, as he chatted away to Naomi Watts and her hubby right behind us... (sighs)
As if that wasn’t cool enough, after we took our seats, RDJ did something I have seen few stars do in all my time in this biz, he actually sat in the audience, and watched the entire film from start to finish, and he just happened to do it 2 rows behind us... I am not sure what was better... Seeing this film, or whipping my head back on occasion seeing the star of the film react in the same way as the audience. This film was obviously written just for him and during a few very cleverly humoured moments, I caught him head in his hands, laughing at himself... That was totally cool!
Iron Man is one of the most fun films of the year and is well worth a trip to the cinemas to see it on the big screen.
The next night, hottie Keanu Reeves was strutting his suited stuff up the red carpet for the premier of his new dark action thriller “Street Kings”. All was going so well until some other journos, whom I will let remain nameless, pissed the poor man off so much that he had a massive tanty and stormed off the carpet. At least he signed some stuff for the fans.
Seriously, what moron thinks it’s cool to ask a mega star like Keanu, why people should bother to part with 15 bucks to see his movie or whether his socks are polyester or wool!
Hugh Jackman has been floating around town filming his latest action flick “Wolverine” and has been spotted sporting some sexy mutton chops, while promoting his other new film “Deception” co-starring Ewan McGregor.
The Astra Awards rolled out the red carpet as Foxtel’s night of nights paid tribute to their most talented, meanwhile I was sweating it out back stage dressing the trophy girls from the new season of “Australia’s Next Top Model”, but still found time to catch up with a few familiar faces, like the kids from MTV and Love My Way.
Days later it was pandemonium as Miranda Kerr and her new BF Orlando Bloom flew in and caused a media storm... I wonder what his ex Kate Bosworth is thinking, maybe she isn’t thinking at all after I spotted her on a busy Sydney street with a very sexy new Aussie hunk on her arm.
Race fever took over Sydney on Saturday day, as everyone who was anyone, and then some, flocked to the racetrack for some high fashion and punting fun. I personally forgot that horses actually race there too, but someone who had his eye close to the action was Orlando, who cleaned up bringing home a few big winners!
From race track to red carpet more celebs crashed this town for the 2008 MTV Awards, including Mischa Barton who did 3 laps of the red carpet, Eve, Wyclef Jean, Brian McFadden, Juliette Lewis (who may be better remembered as Brad Pitt’s first girlfriend), Leona Lewis, Kim Kardashian and rapper 50 Cent, then joined by a host of local favs including Axle Whitehead, The Veronicas and the Potbelleez and the Vines who debuted their brand new single.
The show had new quarters this year, being held at Sydney’s Australian Technology Park, which meant no seats and sore feet, and maybe there should have been a warning to guests about Wyclef’s wardrobe choice involving green and yellow lycra...
If that wasn’t already enough, as April draws to a close it will do so with Rosemount Australian Fashion Week... As designers like Wayne Cooper, Sass and Bide, Zimmermann, Akira and Alex Perry take the catwalk with their latest collections.
I was lucky enough to be at the Ruth Tarvydas show, as she is the woman responsible for bringing the Kardashian’s out to OZ. Kim’s sister, Khloe Kardashian, at times seemed to be more interested in singing along to the great soundtrack of the show, rather than watching the dresses, which were breath taking... Bless, and Lara Bingle on occasion blinded anyone sitting opposite to her with her new rock.
With more shows to go, including Glamour God Alex Perry, and a host of other fabulous fashionistas still to show, there should be no end of exciting goss to report back next week, if I can see anything through the sea of black, over sized, over priced big bags, Anna Wintour wannabes, air kisses and ass kissing.
Till next time, stay fabulous

January 2008
Date Added: 22/02/2008
For some reason at the beginning of each new year we feel the need to make resolutions, silent vows to ourselves that reflect what we would like from the year ahead. When making your resolutions for 2008 it's going to be much easier to stick to them if you are kind to yourself and set realistic goals as well as a plan to ensure you achieve them.
So here are 10 tips that should get you well on your way to making 2008... 2000 and GREAT!
# 10 - Reflect on your past Successes
Every success, be it large or small, is proof that you are capable of achieving more successes. Celebrate each success. Recall it when you begin to lose faith in yourself.
– Napoleon Hill
Before you begin to berate yourself with all the changes you need to make for the new year, take some time to reflect and remember all you have achieved to date, be it large or small! Write each achievement down, read it over, you may even surprise yourself. When the going gets tough or if you begin to lose faith in yourself or your abilities, go back to the list and remind yourself of all the things you HAVE achieved.
# 9 - Clean out your Closet!
Take some time to simplify your life and clear out the clutter. Dedicate a weekend to get your surroundings in order. Go through your closet, kitchen, garage or attic. Hold a garage sale or donate unwanted items to charity. By getting rid of the "stuff" we no longer need helps create a fresh energy in our space, which is a great way to kick off the new year.
# 8 - Positivity is the NEW Black!
The definition of positivity – Characterized by the presence or possession of features or qualities rather than their absence.
There is nothing sexier, more attractive, appealing or alluring than positivity. You could be wearing the world's most expensive clothes, driving the latest car, have a life that people would envy... however if you have a negative outlook, then all of that means nothing!
There is an old saying "Misery likes company" if you allow yourself to be consumed by negativity you can pretty much bet that's what you will attract in abundance.
Funny thing is, it actually goes both ways, if you send out positive energy to those around you, not only will it rub off on them, but you will also attract other like minded people to you, like a moth to a flame. Positivity is contagious, when a complete stranger smiles at you, you are compelled to smile back, when someone goes out of their way to be helpful or kind, we tend to reciprocate, when someone laughs we laugh with them.
Positive people draw positive energy
Positive energy draws other positive like minded people
Positive people attract positive forces
Positive forces create positive experiences
Positive experiences translate into positive relationships, emotions and achievements
Think it sounds crazy... Try it out, what do you have to lose or rather imagine what you could gain, the outcomes are POSITIVELY endless!
# 7 - Love Thy Self
Think about what you want from EVERY aspect of your life... Think about what makes you happy, what makes you smile, what makes you able to sleep at night content... Then think about what's stopping you from having ANY of it.
Exercise your strengths, embrace your weaknesses, learn to love yourself warts and all. Celebrate your uniqueness and know you are worthy of whatever your heart desires. When you can do this, you will have the courage and confidence to achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to. Before anyone else can truly love you, you have to truly love yourself!
# 6 - Just Imagine
As we get older, some of us lose touch with our most important asset, every single person has it, however many of us forget what to do with it, or worse still have no idea how to use it.
It can provide solutions to problems
Answers to questions
It knows no boundaries
It can be accessed at ANY time, day or night
It's completely FREE
It is simply our "Imagination", our imagination allows us to dream, to think and to ponder... Think back to your childhood, what were your dreams, your hopes, your aspirations? The aeroplane, the car, the tallest building in the world, all began in someone's imagination and is unequivocal proof that we too, can create ANYTHING we can imagine.
# 5 - Make Time for Playtime
Too many of us these days are all work and not enough play... That's why it's important to give yourself sometime out, time for fun, time for laughing and smiling. There is no better way to recharge than spending time with friends and family, it helps bring back perspective in our lives, and reaffirms the things that "really" matter. So when making those resolutions make sure you schedule in some good old fashioned playtime for you and those you love.
# 4 - Let yourself Receive
Allow others to give YOU love and care. Receive without guilt or apology.
– Anon
Sometimes we ALL need a hand, some help, a little extra back up, yet so many of us are afraid or too stubborn to ask. Help is NOT a dirty word. We can often forget that while we may see ourselves with the responsibility of the "primary" giver, you actually give a gift to those around you every time you are a gracious receiver. In other words... We know how good it feels when we give... Sometimes we need to let those around us feel the same.
# 3 – Fake it till you make it!
This has been my personal mantra for many years, it has been part of my game plan to achieve my own personal goals and it has worked! Put simply... When you figure out what you want and where you want to be, start living your life like you are already there. Adopt the attitudes, the belief system, the thought patterns, physically what you want, feel it, think it, see it, be it! Trick your subconscious into becoming what you want to be... It all comes down to manifestations of the mind... Believe it and you'll see it. FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT!!!!!!
# 2 – Your body is a temple – worship it!
If YOU don't worship your body, who will?
Worshiping your body simply means taking care of it, doing what is best for it, nurturing it with proper nutrition, regular exercise and sufficient sleep. Worshiping your body means learning about it and listening to it. When your body is sick, it's letting you know that something is off balance, it's telling you it needs something that you are not giving it. It's about treating your body with respect, compassion and care.
Without our body, we would have no vehicle to carry us through this life, no way to get us where we want to go, no way to do the things that are important to us and the people around us.
Many of us can spend hours on primping the outside, but how much do we spend on primping the inside? How many of us pay careful attention to the nutrition we provide our body? Our body is like a car... if you don't put the right kind of fuel in, it won't run. How many of us make sure that we are giving our body enough exercise to keep it in good working order. It's like leaving a car parked in the garage for too long, if you don't drive it much, it won't run so well. Our bodies are no different, we need to take it out for a regular spin, more we use it, the better it runs and the stronger we feel.
Insufficient exercise, poor nutrition, inadequate rest and stress, can all destroy our temple, there is no better investment you can make to yourself!
#1 Destination Anywhere
If you decide to go on a holiday you need an itinerary. The itinerary lists how you will get from point A to B, it outlines flights, transfers and travel times so you know when and how to get to your chosen destination. We can sit and wish our lives away dreaming of various places to vacation, but unless we book the flights, make reservations, or go to the travel agent it will be just that... A dream. The same principal also is applicable to life.
Think of each of your goals as a "destination", when you have that destination clear in your mind, then you need to figure out how to get there... In a sketch pad or journal write down all the "destinations" you want to head towards through out the year, each "destination" should have it's own page. Then one by one look at each destination and work out your "itinerary", this is all the steps you need to take to arrive at your chosen destination, once that is complete get your diary out and assign times and dates, by breaking your goal into baby steps helps make even the furthest destinations reachable. This is not an exercise that can be done in a day, this is a work in progress, as you plot out the course YOU want for YOUR life.
You may think this seems arbitrary however it's much easier to get somewhere you haven't been before if you have a guide to keep you on the right path.
Itineraries can't always be followed to the letter, sometimes we may miss a turn, a flight, lose some luggage, get lost or sick, that's why we have travel insurance, to cover us and get us back on track when something goes wrong. Breaking down our goals this acts as our insurance policy, our marker, our reference point or beacon to go to when life isn't working out the way we thought.
* Choose your destination.
* Create your itinerary – set dates and times and pit stops then stick to them.
* Be accountable... Tick off each item as it's achieved.
* Look at it every day, remind yourself of where you need to go tomorrow...
* If you hit a road block or delay, take a moment and work out the next best route, it may take you a little extra time, so don't forget to enjoy the journey along the way.
Life is yours for the taking... So what are you waiting for, get out there! Dream BIG, laugh LOUD, smile LOTS, create YOUR FUTURE, love YOURSELF and remember... A quitter never wins and a winner never quits!
Here's to making 2008... 2000 and Great!
Happy New Year!
Till next time, Stay Fabulous

They say we all have our vices in life, and for me it’s shoes. I’m not talking just any shoe, I am talking the crème de la crème of shoes, shoes that take your breath away, and can make you feel a million dollars as soon as you slip them on your feet, fine leather, gloriously high heels and smatterings of decadent details.
I admit, my shoe collection is one of pride and joy, when I look in my closet and see all those beautiful shiny boxes carefully stacked my heart flutters, and I know at that moment that I am without doubt a shoe addict.
This week, I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of one of my all time favourite shoe designers... Not only was I going to get to feast my eyes on his divine new “Black Label” collection, but rumour had it the man himself was going to be in town for the big event. He is one of the few shoe designers, that not only designs beautiful, glamorous footwear but truly understands the mechanics of a woman’s foot. His shoes are made with the finest materials, and with a woman’s comfort in mind... His heels are high and sexy, his finishings decadent and red carpet glam, he is one of Italy’s finest artists, he is Gianni, the man behind “Gianmarco Lorenzi” Shoes.
His name is known the world over for high quality, super sexy shoes, and I was going to meet him.
Held in the beautiful Varese Shoe store, in Sydney’s prestigious Double Bay, it was without doubt love at first sight... This new collection literally took my breath away and had all the female guests in attendance swooning.
Shoes were adorned in Swarovski Crystals large and small, over stated flowers also played a role, styles that dressed the entire foot and ankle in a series of decorative jewel studded straps proved a popular choice for Australian fashion editors and fashionistas.
As for Gianni, the man behind the shoes, well he was in a word “bellissimo”. This Italian craftsman was everything you would expect from a world class shoe designer, classy and elegant with an obvious love of women, he worked the room charming those who were captivated by the beauty he created.
For me, Christmas came early!
